  • Some headings are not presented in logical order. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).

  • Some visual labels do not appear in the accessible name of links and controls. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.5.3 (Label in Name).

  • Some pages cannot be found through more than one type of navigation. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.5 (Multiple Ways).

  • On some pages the back to top link and banner link can obscure focused elements. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.11 (Focus Not Obscured (Minimum).

  • News pages have inconsistently-placed language navigation. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.2.3 (Consistent Navigation).

  • On some pages contents are not voiced by a screen reader, This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value)

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

We regularly audit and check content on qualifications.gov.scot and seek to fix content that fails to meet the WCAG version 2.2 AA standard.

What are we planning to do next:

  • User testing on the website using assistive technologies and people with disabilities

  • Review aria labels for consistency and best practice.

This statement was prepared on 30/01/26. The statement was last reviewed on 30/01/26. This website was last tested on 29/01/26 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. This test included all pages and was carried out by the digital and business systems teams. We used a combination of automated testing tools - Powermapper, Axe, Wave and Silktide - and manual testing.
