Qualifications Scotland marks a new beginning for Scotland’s qualifications and will bring huge benefits for learners, educators, employers and training providers.
Learners
We’re improving how we listen to you, investing in digital services, and reviewing our qualifications to support your success.
We’re creating more opportunities for you to have your voice heard and to influence decisions that affect you.
We’re investing in our website and digital services, so you can access support and information quickly.
Over the next few years, we’re reviewing National Courses and their assessments – including exploring ways of reducing reliance on exams. We’ll do this in collaboration with learners and educators.
We’re streamlining and modernising our range of qualifications to provide clearer progression routes between different types and levels of qualifications.
What it means for your qualifications
As Scotland’s new national qualifications body, we’ll award all qualifications that were previously awarded by SQA – including National Qualifications, Higher National Qualifications and vocational qualifications.
Educators
We’re strengthening our partnership with teachers and practitioners by putting your expertise at the centre of our work.
We’re setting up our School Partnership Team. Bringing us closer to the classroom than ever before – building stronger relationships with schools and ensuring meaningful communication and engagement with teachers and practitioners.
We're establishing a Teacher and Practitioner Interest Committee to ensure your voice influences our decisions.
We're using technology to improve support you and to make our processes simpler and more efficient.
Over the next few years, we’ll review and reform our qualifications. We're committed to working with you and creating more opportunities for you to have your say and help shape the future of qualifications in Scotland.
What this means for delivering qualifications
We aren’t making any changes to courses or assessments this year. You can continue delivering qualifications exactly as you are now.
Employers and training providers
We’re creating a more open, responsive organisation that works closely with training providers, employers and industry partners.
We’ll deliver relevant qualifications, clear information and streamlined services that respect your time and meet evolving workforce needs.
We're building an organisation that's more open, collaborative and responsive to your needs as a training provider or employer.
We're committed to providing accurate information that's easy to access quickly – we know your time is valuable.
We're working to streamline our services and communications, so you only receive information that's relevant to you and the qualifications you deliver.
We're strengthening our partnerships with industry experts to ensure qualifications meet the evolving needs of learners and employers.
