Young learners dare to dream of a world without racism

Published

Scotland's young anti-racism campaigners were celebrated at the home of Scottish football, as Qualifications Scotland and Show Racism the Red Card honoured the winners of the 2026 Creative Competition at a ceremony held at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

More than 100 young people from across Scotland gathered for the annual awards, joined by Qualifications Scotland Chief Executive, Nick Page and representatives from the Scottish Football Association, and PFA Scotland.

Hibs striker Kathleen McGovern delivered a video message congratulating the young finalists gathered at Barclays Hampden from the Scotland Women’s National Team’ training camp in Hungary. The ceremony was hosted by BBC Sport Scotland reporter Gully Singh and model and actress Eunice Olumide MBE.

Show Racism the Red Card's Creative Competition invites young people across Scotland to use their creativity to design thought-provoking work that raises awareness of racism and promotes a strong anti-racist message. This year's theme, "A world without racism”, called on entrants to reflect on the importance of speaking out against racism in all its forms.

This year, more than 2,700 entries were received from children as young as Primary 1 right through to college students, making this one of the competition's most impressive years to date.

This year's winners are:

  • S1–S3: Emily Moir, Lochaber High School, Fort William

  • S4–S6: S4 Year Group, Falkirk High School

  • College: Isla Mosquera, Edinburgh College

  • ASN School: Auchmuty High School, Fife

  • Primary Schools: Riverside Primary School in Perth, Milngavie Primary School, East Dunbartonshire, and Drymen Primary School, Stirlingshire

Nick Page, Chief Executive at Qualifications Scotland, said: "A world without racism — what a wonderful thing to imagine. And what better people to imagine it than the young people of Scotland.

"Racism affects real lives. It shapes the opportunities people have to learn, to work, and to feel at home in their own communities. That's why it matters so much that young people across Scotland are using their voices — and their creativity — to say that things can be different.

"We didn't create the world as it is, but we all have a part to play in shaping what it becomes. At Qualifications Scotland, we're proud to stand alongside these remarkable young people and Show Racism the Red Card in doing exactly that."

Billy Singh, Campaign Manager for Show Racism the Red Card in Scotland, said: "Every year, this competition reminds me of just how much young people care — and just how brilliantly they can express it when given the chance.

"A world without racism is absolutely worth striving for. It won't happen overnight, and it takes all of us — young people and adults alike — to play our part. But looking around this room today, I feel genuinely hopeful.

"To every single person who entered this year's competition: thank you. You've shown real courage in speaking out, and your voices matter more than you know."
